Does it really matter how much the Earth will warm in my lifetime? How will it impact my life?

To help us think through the implications of a warming world in our lifetime, we talked to James McCarthy, a professor at Harvard University who worked with a distinguished group of scientists to write What We Know, a report that helps the general public understand what 97% of scientists agree upon regarding global warming, and what we can do about it.

In this video, Dr. McCarthy puts climate change into the context of our every day lives, and helps us think about it as a “risk management” problem. He shares how we can think about the “low-probability/high consequence” events that we may face as the climate warms—such as rapid sea-level rise—and how individuals, businesses, and cities can make decisions to manage these risks.

Watch this video to understand:

  • How to think about climate change as a risk-management problem
  • What may happen in your lifetime as the planet warms
  • How individuals, businesses, and cities can make decisions to mitigate risks associated with climate chang
