How Do You Teach Causality as It Relates to the Environment?

The next-generation science standards—scientific ideas that all students should learn by the time they graduate from high school—include a cross-cutting focus on cause and effect. As such, teaching causality is something that teachers are thinking about and trying to introduce in different ways.

Tina Grotzer is an Associate Professor at Harvard Graduate School of Education and a cognitive scientist whose research identifies ways in which our understanding of the nature of causality impacts our ability to deal with complexity in the world.

In this video, Dr. Grotzer explores how teaching cause-and-effect in relation to environmental issues can transfer to new concepts in other areas of science.
